Why certification?
GEAO certified Enterprise Architects are associated with a high level of excellence and are globally recognised for their significant contribution to the success of organisations. It show that somebody has demonstrated proficiency in the Enterprise Architecture profession. This will not only provide benefits to the individual but also added value for organisations, such as:
- Certification gives you better selection criteria for high-level architecture positions, which leads to increased confidence when hiring Enterprise Architects
- Certification is a way to enable the market to identify professional Enterprise Architects. Perceived value may enable you to charge more for your Enterprise Architecture services
- Support for minimum competency standards and internal career planning
- Provides an objective and independent evaluation of applicant qualifications

- A GEAO Certified Enterprise Architects will be listed on a registry that will be available to you to verify whether or not a particular enterprise architect is certified.
Assessment framework
GEAO assesses candidates against a set of certification criteria and candidates must convincingly demonstrate that they meet those criteria. The following picture shows the three key strands in the certification and how they fit into the professional practice.

Who develops the criteria for certification?
Members of the certification program are members from business, government, educational institutions, and independent practitioners. They are responsible for the the certification criteria and the criteria will be continuously monitored for their relevance to the industry.
How do organisations know that somebody is certified?
GEAO will provide a web-based service allowing organisations to verify whether or not a particular enterprise architect is certified.
